The school I work in is under renovation and my new office has NO WINDOWS!!!!!!!! I've always had plants at my workplace and am in search of plants that I can grow in a room with no sunlight-only artificial light. I need some suggestions. HELP!!!!!

I think most house plants can grow with regular lites...maybe you could try an iron plant (think that's what it's called)

I would be looking for a grow light of some kind and put my plants under that. Short of that...I would go with Pothos or Peace Lily. I have seen both do great without natural light.

I second Tonya. Also, my husband, when moved to the same sort of situation, replaced all the fluourescent(sp?) tubes in his office with some sort of grow/natural light tubes of his own. He never regrettedit it for himself or the plants he had.

the things i grew in my office that only had flourscent lights were:
peace lily
draceana (tri-color marjinata aka dragon tree & a janet craig)
aspidistra (cast iron plant)
trancendentia zebrina (purple wandering jew)
golden pothos
heart leave philodendrun
ficus elastica (rubber tree)
sanseveria (mother in law's tongue aka snake plant)
kimberly queen fern (very similar to a boston fern)
calathia
maranta (prayer plant)
not sure what all else, those are just the past that i remember and the current.

oh, and a friend grew a pony tail palm.

try a terrarium, you can grow all sorts of cool mini plants like orchids and carnivorous plants, as long as you have flourescent lights 4 it
