The thundershower we had a few days ago took all the petals off of my peonies but now I have 5 what look like seeds forming at the base of the stamen. Can anyone tell me about harvesting peony seeds? The area that I'm talking about has already turned brown but they are still firmly attached to the plant. It only took a day for them to turn from green to brown though so I'm wondering if they ripen quickly like the portulacas rather than slowly like a columbine. And are these seeds or seed pods.

Nope, I'd wait, good and long to let them
dry up...
They diffenately wouldn't be ready yet if the rain
just blew off the petals..

Patients Grasshopper, Patients...

If I remember correctly, they should open up and
you can see inside when they are ready..

My peonies are done but there are still a few overblown flowers , can I leave these on the plant and get seed? I always thought peonies were propagated from the root. [dunno]
