brown roots

hi im not sure what to do . I recently purchased a lucy bamboo it has brown roots . can i cut it off and start new [angel]

We have several lucky bamboos all with reddish-brown roots and they all look healthy. Those that are banded are 2ft-2.5ft tall; the loose ones are more than 3ft. tall. I see no point in cutting off the roots to start new ones.
