I just read that covering seeds with red plastic can improve germination rate from 20% to 80%. Of course, the article was meant for rose seeds, so I'm not sure if it'll work for all types of seeds. You can read the article for yourself here. go about 1/3 the way down, paragraph starts with the seed trays

I read the article all the way through. Was so lost I was reminded of why I didn't try gardening for the longest time.

Sounds like I shouldn't even try to raise some roses from seed.
