Here's a glimmer of hope:

Since it is such a small tree, it very well may be conserving it's energy to work on it's root system. I have planted a few trees which looked as if they died completely after planting, only to come back to life and grow brand-new leaves after a couple of months.

My advice is to just leave it where it is, water it well weekly if there's no rain, and keep an eye out for new leaves once it feels it's gotten it's roots situated.

Good luck!
