I found this outside and had never seen one like this before, anyone know what it is, I would guess it is some sort of caterpillar??? It was about 3" long.

It's an Imperial Moth Caterpillar .

It is so freaky that those things turn into butterflies.
Blows my mind! [Big Grin]

When we found this one I thought for sure it was some kind of alien.
It's in a cocoon now! [grin]

By the way , it's a chrysalis for butterflies , not a cocoon. [teacher]
