I have just put down Diatomaceous Earth on my lovely nasturtium plants that I have in pots. For the last several weeks I have been noticing carpenter ants and thier eggs on the stems....it's freaking me out! Will the DM hurt the plants for eating (I sometimes use them in salads) and do I need to worry about my cats? Thanks!!!

Odds are your cats are safe, but I wouldn't sprinkle th stuff in their food bowls. As for you, rinse the plants well before you eat them. And if you are still concerned, read the chemical ingredients and look up their MSDS sheets. They are records kept by companies that process the chemicals. Just do a yahoo search for MSDS and the chemical in question.
