These were some of my pansies yesterday - they are the icicle type - I planted them last November after getting them for a steal at Lowe's - 11 cents each!!! They are doing so well - I wish they would make it through the summer... [dunno]

Those are a beautiful color!!!
When I find deals like that here,
they're just about DEAD!

I have to admit, pansy's and johnny~jump~ups and viola's are on my high priority list!!
I love the peach and yellow one's together,

Thanks Gardencrazy and Weezie!

I tried to buy all the blueish colored ones I could find, Weezie... in all I got about 48 plants! Not all of them survived the winter I'm sad to say...

BUT... I did also have to buy 2 that were called "Halloween 2" - if I remember correctly they had a very pretty orange color to them but I don't remember what other color it was combined with - they haven't bloomed open yet - different area of my yard.

The names for these plants were so fun - they musta had a great time sitting around naming them all - I would LOVE that job! [Big Grin]

Hiya, Lynne! Looks like you got a great bargain! They are wonderful!

Would pansies be good to plant under a small flowering tree, do you think?

Lynne, those are beautiful! I wish I could find a price like that on pansies....just breathtaking photos. Pansies are one of my favorites too. They remind me of visiting my grandma's home as a child. She always had the most beautiful flower beds full of them.

Barb: Pansies like partial shade...so I guess it depends on how full the foliage is on your tree...as long as they get some dappled light they would probably be fine:)

Thanks Barb and Chrissy!

I think the only reason I was able to get them soooo cheap is that Lowes had just opened in our area and they probably over-ordered not knowing how sales would go the first year... I did buy them very late in the season, but they had soooooo many left - I had to stop myself from taking more!

Barb - they would probably do okay under a small tree, they do tend to get very leggy and die out during the heat of summer. I don't think these will make it through the summer and into next year - such a shame - they are doing so well this time!

Here are a few more that I got at the same sale...
