2 months ago i buoght a spaghetti squash to have with my dinner. i scraped all the seeds out and put them on a paper towel. then i got the bright idea to plant them ptowel and all. i just dug a hole and plopped them in. i now have maybe 100 squash plants with 2-3 sets of true leaves. my question is, if anyone has an answer, how deep do the roots need to grow, and will these plants need tons of room to produce squash?? any info will be GREATLY appreciated. i probably should have researched before i planted but i was too excited to see if the seeds would produce anything. i didn't even let the seeds dry out. thanx for any help [Wink] [clappy]

Personally, I'd thin as necessary and see what happens.

oh i don't know i guess i could thin them out to another big pot opr maybe go and get a big pickle barrel and transplant sone to that. i just hate to "kill" my babies. i have some that i'm giving to my friends daughter. i'll have to see if anyone is up for adopting some squash plants.
thanx for your input. do the roots need lots of depth, do you know, by chance

It depends. If it is a bush variety, it tends to root a bit deeper and spead less. Most squash root is shallow with the tap root heading off horizontally.
