Beautiful little things...These remind me of the years I lived in the high desert & the Monarch migration that came through town. Awesome...So many butterflies everywhere...They were so thick & made visibility so difficult over the I15 one year, I saw people needing to use their windshield wipers.

Wow Jillie - I would love to see that sometime!

We had live monarch butterflies in the floral centerpieces at our daughters bat mitzvah last June - it was wonderful, especially when we released them!

Nice to see these pictures, Bill, on this VERY COLD winter day! Thanks!

Lynne, live butterflies? Wow! You went all out! I'll bet it was beautiful.
Happy Holidays, to you, Lynne. Face west and gimme a fork salute when taking a bite of your first latke of the day! [wayey]

You're so funny, Jillie! [Big Grin] Thanks for the holiday wish. [grin] We won't be having latkes until Sunday at a family gathering, but I'll be sure to think of you then! [thumb]

I like the one with green wings! Great pics as usual Bill!

I have a butterfly question.

I have seen butterfly houses, like birdhouses, at nursery spots on the web. What exactly do they do? Do the butterflys really live in them? Someone please explain to me. [wayey]

Hollywood....

Butterflies will live in these houses you've seen as long as they are place in a sheltered spot, and is around flowers and a source of water. Just remember not to use any pressure treated lumber. You can paint it....on the outside with bright colors and flower designs...they really go for that.
