I have them by the ton, I love them, my husband said they bite.........is this true? Have any of you ever tried to habitat for them? I would like to do something for them additional to help make them happy. They must love it here they are here all the time, I have the cute lil green and blue and a few red ones, they are simply beautiful. I just love them around. But their are alot of them. Something here must be attracting them. I do have a pond but its a good 5 acres away.

Dragonflies love to eat mosquito larvae. Any pond big murky puddle or standing water can attract them. If you have or build a garden pond put sticks around it so they hang over the water. Dragonflies like to perch out over the water.
As for biting, I've never been bitten, see them all the time.
Maybe do a google search or look in e-nature

THey sit on the powerline above my pool, I guess they are perching there. Come evening time there are usually at least 6 up there. I enjoy my evening swims while watching them.

I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!

Bird flu is NOT spread by mosquitos.
Infected birds shed influenza virus in their saliva, nasal secretions, and feces. Susceptible birds become infected when they have contact with contaminated secretions or excretions or with surfaces that are contaminated with secretions or excretions from infected birds. Domesticated birds may become infected with avian influenza virus through direct contact with infected waterfowl or other infected poultry, or through contact with surfaces (such as dirt or cages) or materials (such as water or feed) that have been contaminated with the virus.

I woke up this morning and went out to see my new lilies and to my surprise there were literally hundreds of dragonflies in the front yard. I thought that ironic since I started this post.

Here is a pic I took a few weeks ago, I couldnt find it to post it. My goal in the next few years is to organize all pictures on the computer. [Big Grin] That should give me enough of a time frame!

I have a few more I took this week. The sit on the barb wire fence and just sit there. Its kinda crazy. We have too many here. I had one the size of a bird chasing me on the mower yesterday! I still just love to watch them though. They really seem to like the new water hole.

Karrie the dragonflies have taken over the backyard here too. I love to get on the mower and plow right thru them! lol It's like a freeway of dragonflies out there. At one point I just stopped my riding mower and just sat and watched them. Breathtaking! I think they love the new pond. lol
I bet they love your new water hole too!

They are all over the place here. I just love them. They tend to spend most of their time by the barbwire fence beside the pool. I had one the other day think he was a tough guy. He was the size of a bird and kept buzz bombing me on the lawn mower. To be honest he kinda started to intimidate me. lol
