Some of you will remember last summer when I got some stuff at a garage sale and the lady had this birdbath on the curb to throw away because the spindle that the center of the top slides into is broken so it didn't hold water so she thought it to be worthless Well today I finally got plants in it!! Heat drought tolerant (so the plant tag says,,) I put in......Dew Plant Aptenia cordifolia regular and varigated and three bunches of Bacopa( small white flowers) I accented the middle with an eggshaped suncatcher Lynne sent me a few months ago! The plants will trail and bloom all spring and summer

That is so pretty! What a find! Have you ever seen that show Junk Brothers I think it's called? They pick up 'junk' on the curb that is mean to be thrown out, they do something different with it, and then put it back on the curb and sneak away and watch the people come out and wonder 'what the heck?" You should send this picture to the person that was going to throw it out!

I love that show, but in this case, their loss is Diane's gain....

Wow, Diane, that looks beautiful. Actually, it probably works better as a planter than it ever would have as a birdbath. I've found that birds usually don't like birdbaths that are too deep and from the picture that one looks pretty deep!

Thanks Patti!!! Yes it is pretty deep! and Thick!!! I had to use concrete burrs to drill holes in the bottom for better drainage , I imagine with as hot as it gets here the concrete would heat up and make a steam bath for the bird when it was usable..

Thanks Weezie! This was an elderly lady and I'm thinking she hadn't thought about flowers going in it as I didn't see any plants or flowers around her yard I imagine she'd get a kick outta seeing it now!!
