Hi there. I have finally moved to a home where there was more than enough room in the yard to plant a glorious garden...Pictures began to fill my head of corn 7 plus feet tall, overflowing red tomatoes, snap beans, peas, carrots...the whole 9 yards, like the beautiful gardens my mother had when I was a child...right up until the day we tried to till the ground. One could tell where there was once a garden, so I marked it out and we went to work...and then it rained...for 4 days it was a steady drizzle. [tears] No one ever told me that the lush lawn that I had would be impossible to till deeper than 4 inches. So out came the shovel and hoe and the gloves and the bandaids... shoveling causes blisters, didn't ya know? [dunno] Six weeks later...my rows were hoed, all the right additives were blended well and the seeds went in. My wonderful husband, [lala] who cautiously warned me about the pitfalls of growing a garden, bought beautiful tomato and pepper and cucumber plants. My excitement returned full force...after about a week, sprouts appeared...and so did the rabbits [Frown] ...and a strange thing took place. Three rows of bean sprouts disappeared, 12 pepper plants and 5 tomato plants followed. [perplexed] My squash look like they belong in a jungle, they're so huge. The cucumber plants cover the southern 6 feet of my garden. The corn is almost 6 foot high with wonderful little ears and my tomatoes are beginning to ripen. [muggs] I gave up on the beans and peppers...I hope the cute little bunnies enjoyed them...and I have more squash and cucumbers than my family of four can possibly eat. AND I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!! [grin]

Good Morning! Thank you princess and patches. I hear thunder outside...but this time, my little garden needs the moisture. I absolutely love gardening...have since I was a kid. I've just never been able to have my own. I have no idea what I'm doing...but my sister and I planned this garden in March...Sadly, she died in April, so not even rain, rabbits or sod bound earth is keeping me from doing it. I'm having a blast...and my kids love going out there too. My teenage son weeds it with a hoe...bless his heart. My daughter searches through the pokey squash and cuke leaves to find the treasures. Now if I could just get them to leave the tomatoes out there until they are at least orange...I'd have it made. Well...storms abrewin over head. I'd better shut my pc down for a while. Again, thanks for the welcome and I'm happy to be here.

Thank you penny! Nice to meet you too. It rained pretty hard here this morning, but it's beautiful outside right now. As soon as the mud dries, I'm heading out to my jungle to clean out the weeds that seem to spring up overnite. I hope everyone has a great day!
