Hello everyone..my name is Kim and I'm a lover of all things outdoors. I don't have much of a green thumb when it comes to plants but I try. I guess you could say my thumb is more yellow than anything! lol
I just started a little pond which I hope will turn into a nice little water garden eventually. It's been so hot in West Tn. this past wk, I haven't gotten much accomplished.
I hope to learn a lot here. From reading a few posts already I can tell the forum is very friendly.

Hi, Kimmy! I'm Thornius, The Bird Man here. I'm in Nashville, TN. I'm not much of a gardener but my knowledge and abilities in gardening have improved astronomically in the year and a half I've been on the forum. We have Karrie in Dyersburg Tennessee on here, too. You can find me most often in the Butterfly and Bird Gardens section of the forum.

Hello Kimmy and Welcome! I recently moved to Dyersburg, myself. Nice lil town here. I am happy and surprised to find someone from around here on here. How long you been in this area? You are in the right place to learn anything and everything about gardening. Some amazing gardeners on here and all around wonderful folks. I think most of us here feel its not just a forum but an extended family of sorts. Glad you joined us!
The weather broke today, I bet you've been doing what I have - working in the yard. I woke up at 5am this morning and was like wow its comfortable out here YEAH!

It's nice to meet another D'burg girl Karrie! We've lived here for about 12 years. My husband and I moved here from a neighboring county when he took a job here. I do love our litle town but I tell my husband I was born on the wrong side of Tn. lol I love the mountains and would love to win the lottery and move to Chattanooga one day. (hey I can dream right?)
The weather today is wonderful isn't it? Like you I got up early and went outside to feed the critters and said OMG now THIS I can handle. lol Hopefully tomorrow will bring the same!

lol, I just checked the weather to see about tomorrow. I am with you there on the wrong side of TN. I had told my husband TN was the only place besides Indiana I would ever live - other then Alaska. But I knew Alaska was a dream. Well I ment East TN. We go to the mountains a few times a year. We are planning to go for a week at christmas this year. I sure did enjoy todays weather. It was a much needed break!
Do you ever go to Reelfoot lake? Its our favorite place to go. We almost bought a house there but I was worried about the Tourist traffic come season. So we just go up on weekends and such. Its almost as beautiful as the Mountains.

Karrie we do go to Reelfoot Lake quite a bit. I think I'm the only one who enjoys it anymore tho. My husband is one of these "seeing it once is enough" people. lol Now he just goes to satisfy me. I could sit forever on the boardwalk behind the museum and just watch the lake.
We go to Boyette's for catfish alot! They have the best catfish and onion rings.
Oh you mentioned Alaska..I've always wanted to go there. Even though I hate the cold. lol I don't know that I could live there but an Alaskan cruise would be awesome to experience.
We head to the mountains just about every yr. chasing waterfalls. We'll probably go back this Fall when the kids are on Break.
Thx for the welcome summergirl! I hope my thumb will get greener!
