You might start in those.

I live in central California...
I am a 'extreme' novice gardener..has that will become evident sooner or later...
I hope to learn a bit here, and more importantly meet some nice folks...

Trust me when I say you will do both of those here.
I have learned so much here.
And, my absolute best friends in the world I have met here. I have gotten to meet 3 of them in person! Just recently one from Florida and one from Arkansas came up to spend the week-end with me. It was the best week-end I have ever had!

Make sure you get down to the Banter Hall...that's where we chat about everything. A good place to get to know everyone is in the Coffeehouse there.
