I'm new to The Garden Helper, reputed to be The Best gardening site on the internet!!
I live in Northeast South Dakota--I put my dot on the map, but it didn't quite go where I wanted it to.
I have had a vegetable garden for many years, but am still learning new things all the time. Just recently, we built some perennial beds that I am trying my best to fill, with everything from daisies to roses. And in the past year I have done my best to embrace houseplants, which I have always thought was not my deal, except for my constant jade tree.
I found this site through a friend's recommendation and I'm really hoping to learn a lot and make some new friends.
On most maps, we are shown as zone 4, but my real life experience tells me that we are actually in zone 3. So I'm always on the lookout for new pretties that will bloom in our figid area.
We have rough winters but the best summers of anywhere I've ever been.

Hi!! Thanks for all the welcomes. I have been reading a lot of interesting info, but haven't got any good questions at the moment.
I mean, unless anyone has any ideas of how I could get paid to just stay home and work in my garden?
Just to let you know where things are in my area, I've just this past weekend gotten my whole garden in and most of my gardening friends agree that it probably won't freeze again now until fall. We've all got our fingers crossed.
This year, we decided to go minimalist salsa with our garden--we have the usual beans, peas and potatoes, but everything else is just so we can make jars and jars of salsa. Hot and mild, as I had the good luck to find a habenero pepper at the greenhouse I go to.
It was nice to be so very welcomed here. I hope to find the time to come frequently. Plants: 80 | From: Zone 3 bordering on Zone 4 | Registered: May 2006
