I am new to the forum, and it looks like a great place to be! I live in Lake Jackson Texas, about 5 miles from the Gulf, and about 60 miles South of Houston. We had spring about a month ago, now it is just hot again. Everything in this town grows, and not just grows but grows BIG! I have come across more plants that I didn't know/realize what they were because they had passed my point of recognition, HA! I planted a Philodendron Selloum right outside my sunroom window (get this, LAST SUMMER)that is now about 5 feet tall and wide, and I have been trying to figure out what the "things" coming out of the bottom of the plant are now. They are similar to cala lilies in that there is a hood of green that opens on one side and out popped this banana sized white thing, and there are about 8 of them all around the base of the plant. They are about a foot high (each one). What the heck do I have? Is it fruit? [flower]

Thanks a bunch! I am looking forward to an answer soon. I could always upload a pic of it, maybe that would help. Thanks again!

Glad to have you here with us all! [thumb] Welcome to the forum I think you'll really love it! I think that you'd do better posting your question in the mystery plant section. Pictures too if you have them. [thumb]

Thanks everyone! You all have been so nice! I may just put the question on the mystery plant forum too, and I KNOW I will have to include pics now, I have a whole other cool thing happening now. The "banana" thing has since grown "hair" and looks like it almost exploded inside the green hood thing. Very cool. I am going to try to get a pic of one of the others that has not yet opened and do a daily thing, one each day.
