Hey everyone! I'm not a gardener (yet) BUT I've got a new backyard (yay!), a clean slate with sod and rough areas waiting for a new privacy fence (someday soon). Haven't had a yard since I was a little kid, so I'm having fun playing again! So far, I've planted a baby crepe myrtle, a hydrangea and a few azaleas (all the usual SC faves). My husband has helped me to build up a raised frame for a veggie garden, too. I'm currently researching trees before choosing any for the backyard (considering one male Hybrid Poplar in order to avoid cotton seeds and a couple small cherry trees). Hopefully I will develop a green thumb without killing too many things! I hope to bless the land and the things I plant and I hope not to drown or neglect anything. I'm also hoping to attract some of the wildlife back to this newly built neighborhood and so far I've seen cardinals and a family of young blue birds! (They seem to like my son's wood playset.) We are fortunate to have a small piece of protected wet land somewhat behind the backyard here so we do have some trees around. Anyhow...I've just stumbled upon this group while researching. I'm excited to have found this site and I know that it will be great to be in touch with such a group! I look forward to meeting everyone on the boards!
Welcome to the Forum! You may not be a gardener yet, but you will be shortly if you hang around here for a little while. You're going to really love it and learn a lot. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Glad to have you aboard.
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!
