I am from alabama i would say i am not very great at growing things but gonna try to grow some flowers for my kids any ideas

Welcome to the Forum! I'm a newbie too and you're going to love it here. There is so much to learn. Are you starting from seeds or are you going to buy plants? When my kids were little I planted vegetables. I thought they would be more interested in something they could eat instead of flowers. They would go out to gather them and they really enjoyed that.

Hi SassyBamaMom I'm not very good at growing plants either. But I tried Asters,Dahlia's and Zinnia's they have sprouted within a couple of days. So I am quite pleased with myself. Welcome to the forum Nice to meet you.
