I'm littleoldlady from the suburbs of Philadelphia. We have about 3/4's of an acre (which, I've finally come to realize, I'll never finish in my lifetime ;-) where we do a LOT of shade gardening, a bit of full-sun gardening, veggies and herbs in a square-foot garden, plus we have a tiny (100 gal.) fish pond.
With all the garden diversity going on on our property, I get to enjoy a lot of different garden "looks". I also get to experience a lot of problems. That's why I came looking for a garden forum - and found YOU (YAY!)
I posted my latest heartbreak down in the shrubs section. Hope someone has time to take a look and possibly give me some advice.
Thanks for letting me join the group! I look forward to lots of "garden speak" - and of course, SPRING!
Best regards, littleoldlady

Welcome to the forum from another little old lady; of course, I usually prefer "mature". I'm a newbie too and loving every minute on this forum. This is such an exciting place to be and you're going to love it here too.
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

I have dibs on the name (and unfortunately the looks, too! )
I've been scrolling around this site - AND getting some incredibly valuable help! - and I am SO tempted to get working in the garden. Unfortunately, it is COLD here, and I'd probably just end up destroying my garden tools.
What does the home page say? "Only 23 days, 6 hours..." etc. til Spring. Can't wait!

Okay, little old lady, you can keep the name. I went to the shrubs site, but didn't have clue how to help you. I do have a shade garden but it's kind of small because I don't have the ground that you do. I've posted a picture of it on the Shade Garden forum and I've experimented with a variety of shade plants.
It's been warm here this week and it got up to 57 today so I was outside for a while. I got spring fever seeing all the little green things popping out of the ground. Unfortunately, it's going to drop again over the week-end so I hope it doesn't get cold enough to zap everything. Mother Nature does like to tease the folks in Illinois.
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!
