I got a gift from my DIL tonight...it is a miniature Garden Gnome...he is about 3 inches tall...and quite adorable. He has a little book with him and I found this extremely interesting given my LOVE for Garden Gnomes now.... [Big Grin]

Gnomes are known around the world as diminutive magical and mysterious beings. You may think that the Gnome in your yard is just hanging around, but he is up to a whole lot more when you are not looking. In addition to the popular Garden Gnome, there are 5 other types of Gnomes...(I'll list them if any one is interested)

Some general tidbits about the fabledGnomes:

* They are nocturnal

* The male Gnome is 7 times stronger than a human male and their brain capacity is much larger as well.

* A Gnomes sense of smell is 19 times as acute as a human's.

*They live well past the age of 400 but reach their peak around 200.

* Gnomes do NOT have heart attacks or go bald.

* Gnomes rub noses to greet each other.

* Babies born to Gnomes are ALWAYS twins.

The female Gnome is quite shy.

* All Gnomes love a good dance, and they will find any old excuse to do so.

* Owning a Garden Gnome is a life long commitment...

Well...I for one have now been informed. This little book has a wealth of info on the Gardnen Gnome...I HAD to stop long enough to read it!!!

I Love my little Gnome!

Vanessa - that is wonderful!
Amy received 2 of those gnomes/books as gifts recently, as she is very "into" gnomes these days.

I hope he brings you much good luck, health and happiness in your new home!
He sure is a cutie!

Is this the little guy?

Actually... Gnomes are just insomniacs who can't sleep because they worry too much about the Pixies and Elves and cute lil Wood Nymphs who are wandering in our meadow....

quote:
* The male Gnome is 7 times stronger than a human male and their brain capacity is much larger as well.
I'll give you that one....

quote:
* A Gnomes sense of smell is 19 times as acute as a human's.
We smell because we work VERY hard!

quote:
*They live well past the age of 400 but reach their peak around 200.
It takes a LONG time to accomplish everything we have to do before we move on to the next world...

quote:
* Gnomes do NOT have heart attacks or go bald.
We don't have time for heart attacks or losing our hair!!! Busy, busy, busy!

quote:
* Gnomes rub noses to greet each other.
That's not ALL we rub!

quote:
* Babies born to Gnomes are ALWAYS twins.
Babies born to Gnomes are ALWAYS AWESOME!!!

quote:
The female Gnome is quite shy.
Now THAT'S VERY Funny!!! [Big Grin]

quote:
* All Gnomes love a good dance, and they will find any old excuse to do so.
Gnomes just love to be loved! [Cool]

quote:
* Owning a Garden Gnome is a life long commitment...
You can't OWN a Gnome... We are like cats... Pet us and we purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... and... we will always be there when you really need us the most!

Most importantly of all... never, ever ask a Gnome WHY... we have no idea of why we do what we do... we just do it! NEVER underestimate the power of a Gnome! OK? [dunno]

That 'Shroom was part of a Faery Circle that I saw this Summer in a neighbor's yard. It was about 6 inches high and the cap was about 8 inches in diameter. To get the picture I laid on the grass on my belly about 2 feet from it and used Macro function on my camera and zoomed in to the point that it completely filled the screen. Then did minimal enhancement in Photoshop 7 to bring out its better qualities.
