Hell, I'm new to a gardening forum. I registered because I found the answer to a gardening question I had on my first try at finding it, on this site...a morning glory problem. I thought -if I can find answers to gardening questions for way up in the subarctic on this site, then I think I'll like it here.
Looking forward to enjoying "virtual" gardening as our winter is looming already.
(Ah, I'm a hobby gardener, raised in the fertile prairies so have had lots of experience, but am a dedicated northerner now, and the challenges of gardening up here are both fun and frustrating together. Our soils are often acidic , often clay based, with thin soil cover in the natural boreal forests, our growing season is short but with almost 24 hour/day sunlight and temperatures moderate...20degreesCelsis, I'm surprised at what I am able to grow.) I love wisteria vines and thats one of the few plants I want but can't have. So I enjoy them in photographs and when I travel. Any other 'north of 60degrees' folks out there?

Hi Denise, Not quite 60..but close as we are in Northern BC. My first time on here and look forward to learning and sharing! We are like you, ending the gardening year. Have had frosts since late August and most plants are looking worse for wear. Our gardening season goes from planting around May long weekend til harvest, early September.
Look forward to seeing you online! Susan
