Howdy folks, I'm aighead. I live in Dayton, Ohio, and I'm a fairly new gardener. I'm mostly into flower gardening though I like to try out the occasional veggie, or tree. I bought a house in a city neighborhood that I'm trying to slowly turn into a jungle and hoepfully with a little help from some of the more experienced people here I can make that more of a reality. The wife and I just had our first baby a week ago today (officially a week old here in about an hour [the same time my eyeglasses will be ready!! Sorry that was a bad joke] so yeeha!) So, what that means is with fairly new house payments and a new baby, I have zero dollars and I try to do everything as cheaply as possible. Thanks for letting me be a part of this community, and I hope we can all help each other!

hi aighead, Am also from Ohio and though I've been doing the family thing a long time I'm still broke! Hey, I gave up trying to grow what I wanted and figured nature knows best. I learned to love weeds...or native species, as I prefer to call them. Some of them have made quite interesting low-maintenance and low-cost alternatives to landscaping. I find certain things just thrive here and some don't. That's actually what motivated me to visit this site--I want to identify the weed (uh, native species) that I adore. Anyway, if you get on good terms with some neighbors, they may be sweet-talked into sharing some of their plants and such. That too can help the budget. Congrats on the new baby and remember love is the best fertilizer for little ones!
