Well I would say the garden is over. And again although I got plants I didn't get any of the seed pods from the chinese lanterns. The plants tried but the pods fell off before they were ripe. Some kind of pest was giving them what for and my organic pest spray just didn't do the trick. The next time I have a garden when I can try them I'll have to see about getting that sevin stuff I've heard about. It sounds like maybe that's the stuff to start with.

Everything else is pretty well dead. Well except for the two marigolds I have left. They have buds but haven't started blooming yet.

I'll look forward to seeing them.

Hi Penny,

I don't think I'll start another one because I've pretty much given everything away now. I still have some of those miniature bushes that I've never been able to identify. They look like they should be evergreens except that they go dormant over the winter and turn brown. But then come back every spring and they propagate by root in a straight line. I wish I could figure out a way to take at least one with me but I can't. Maybe someone will give one a temporary home while I try and find a place to move too. Well it would have to be someone who lived close or was visiting in the area the roots are really long and so it would be a really big package. They are probably a foot tall now and two of them are very nice ball shapes after their most recent pruning. I love these little things. There has got to be a way to save them. I've never seen them anywhere else. Although I have seen many ground covers that look like them up to a point. They don't take the shape of these nor do they like the shady conditions these do. Maybe I can talk juanita into taking a few of them for me and keeping them until I find a new place for them.
