I have been looking at all the names that we have chosen on the forum and I have gotten curious. Just how did we all come up with our "handles"?
I chose "Dixie Angel" because I live in the south and I am a(n) (Fallen) angel. Seriously...I named my furbaby "Lil Lady Dixie Angel". I just sort of took her name as my own for forum identification.

"Merme" is the childhood name my family and closest friends have always used for me. I accidently gave it to myself at age 2.
People would ask "What is your name?" and I'd point to myself and say "Mary, Me!" but I said it so quickly (we all speak too fast!) it sounded like "Mare me."

My husband gave me my name when we were first married. "Ranee" means Queen in some African language ( I have long forgotten which one). And my first name is Renee'. Thus my name is Queen Renee' . I love my name so much I use it for EVERYTHING!

Well I started as Nana8 - way back in 99 or so- then my fertile children kept giving me more grands - so now I am up to 15 as of tomorrow... so If I knew how to change it or modify it here I would --- LOL! DIL went to hospital today and they will deliver the twins at 7 am--- they are very early and going to be very little but Dr's are saying all is well so I am trying really hard to believe that and not worry.... we are going to have 3 babies withen 6 weeks of each other...tired already!
The only Weezie I've heard of was in Steel Magnolia....you know that old, mean lady
I think you had better spill the beans Weezie...we could ALL start guessing why you gave yourself that name. You know how it went the last time I started guessing on something.....you know my mind can reach!!!

My Daddy called me giggiburr when I was a little kid- sort of a twisted version of my name- Ginger. First it was Gingiburr, then it changed to giggiburr, and my initials are GG, so it became geegeeburr. BTW, I have online friends who've known me for like 6 years now who still call me Geegee.
Merme- In my head, I've been pronouncing your name wrong-- I thought it was "Merm" like mermaid.

I wish Barley would post on this thread because I do NOT understand that screen name at all and keep wondering if it is a plant?
And oh Geegee, you were close. Sometimes my family does shorten Merme into a one-syllable name as you suggested, but they keep the "a" sound, so it is "Maremmm" rather than "Mare-me".
Good to see you back, my friend!

this is actually the second go around for this thread...and in the first one, barley explained her name. I don’t remember if the first go around was pre- or post- crash though, so I don’t know if it would be somewhere in the archives but, I know, and I know why Weezie is Weezie too, but I’ll let her tell you!

I'm sorry if this topic seems redundant. All I know is it was pre- me! I think!!!
I am finding it interesting to see the different replies. I would have never guessed how to say Merme's name if she had not posted. I've been calling her something else in my head.
Please dig the topic up if it is in the archives. I would like to know (yes, I'm nosy and curiousity killed the cat) how Weezie got her name. I have looked and cannot find it.

I admit I have the remarkably bad habit of reading posts without my glasses. This sometimes makes for interesting interpretations of finer print items. For the longest time I thought Barley's name was Barley-CLOWN. Then I put my glasses on!
But on another forum I emailed regularly with a woman whose screen name I THOUGHT was TIDEAN, which I read as "Tidy Ann". Again, no glasses. Until finally she asked me why I always called her Tidy Ann? It was actually TLDEAN....her initials and last name strung together! Somehow "Tracy" didn't suit her as well as my Annie had!!!
Who said KISS?!
Maybe that's why I love Meg's screen name so much!
Even so, I know I wrote in another thread that Dixie Angel shouldn't just declare herself angel over Dixie....she oughtta call herside world wide web angel....

Me too, Merme! I guess I just don't pay good attention, because I never noticed princessAZLEA's spelling- been reading Princess Azalea the whole time. And for several months, I think I called Suzydaze "Sunny".
My favorite name, though, has to be Bess of the Piedmont. It just sounds so regal, somehow.

Why thank you Merme. (And in my head, I'm still saying your name the wrong way, it rolls off my brain's tounge easier for me that way..lol.)
NOW, I have to tell you this.. when I signed up on here, almost a year ago, I couldn't think of a good name. Every message board I post on is usually some part of my name, and maybe my birthyear (1970). So, I was trying to be "original". I came up with a name, but ended up not liking it that much.. it was kinda lame, and too long. Then, in signing up, it asked me what I want my screen name to show as.. so instead of my "signup name", my screen name, is just simply, my name. Or, nickname anyway. The screenname I chose? cluelessinwestva
Maybe I could fit a few more of those graemlins if I tried..lol.

I feel like I'm coming into this thread a little too late! But, I will tell you about my name. I use "hisgal" for alot of things that I do online. It reminds me of Stephen...because, well, I'm simply his girl. We used to tease back and forth while we were dating and one day he screwed his words up and called me his "gal"...I remember that fondly and that's why I use that name. The 2 on the end of it is my favorite number. 1 is lonely and 3 is a crowd.....2 is just perfect.
I thought the 2 stood for something else. I thought it meant you were
Hisgal (Stephen's gal) AND Hisgal (God's gal)
at least, that's how I always read it!

Weezie, I had to chuckle when I saw your post because early this morning when I read the previous post, I thought "Not Weezie's!"
It's ok, my friend, you can keep your secret but tell me, is it ok if we spend time trying to guess?!
My first guess is that you are a tiny person, which explains the "Wee" part. And your last name is something unpronouncable that begins with ZIE such as "Ziefersnitchelbeginsteinovich", so you shorten it to Zie for all of us who don't speak that language!
So how'd I do?

Ya know, we could probably guess until we're blue in the face and then MAYBE we'd get it....but then she probably wouldn't tell us if we got it right, so we wouldn't know it and would just keep guessing and guessing and guessing forever and ever ***takes a deep breath*** and ever and then we'd never know her secret....
ok...sorry...WAY too much caffeine tonight!!!
So, I used to be called Weezie. Its because my middle name is Louise and they just thought it was funny to call me that.

Okay, here's a crazy one for you! Although it is kind of along the same line as Jenn's....... My husband and I send/exchange cards to each other..a lot. We frequantly include a passage of scripture from the Song of Solomon because we just love the way they so romanticly describe their love for each other. Chapter 5 verse 10 she describes her lover as white and "ruddy". My husbands name is Rufus..(which we don't particularly care for) so one day I looked up the meaning of his name and one of the sir names for Rufus is Rudy (like judy with an "R") so, that is what I call him, but spell it like it is in the scripture with 2 r's....the # 4 is just so he knows that everything I do is "4" him. Crazy I know! He actually calls me his "Shulamite" woman, because we met at church and the sermon the night we met was about the custom of the groom going to prepare a home for his Shulamite woman. My grandkids all call me "Mammers"...a name given to me by my youngest son. When he played football..I fed the entire team on many occassions and I don't know how they came up with that one...but that is what they football team called me and even at their graduation a lot of the boys had no clue what my real name was! Peanut,(Taylor) our adopted grand baby came by his nick name because he had to have some major surgery at six weeks...and when he came out of surgery his little body was completely shaped different...he looked like a little "Peanut"...now when someone calles him Taylor....he just looks at them crazy!
