Have to agree with Mel there! Besides, my resolutions never last too long before being tossed out...just not self-disciplined I guess.

Oh Cricket, I just love that George Carlin quote.
Jenn, a journal is a great idea. I used to keep one all the time and it really helped me keep my thoughts together. Maybe I'll do that, too. I like to write poetry and draw in them as well.

I am with geegeeburr! This past year put 20 pounds on me because of some medicine I had to take. Now I will be working to get the weight down so that I can be a slimmer bride. I don't want to have to waddle down (or should I say, up?) the aisle.

I finally thought of a good New Year's Resolution for myself today when I was throwing yet another bag of aluminum cans in the back of my truck...
I have a bad habit of driving around for a month or two with bags of stuff to drop off at the recycling dumpsters that are all over town.
So, from now on I will not drive around looking like Sanford and Son...I will pull in and spend 2 whole minutes (or less) throwing my bags in the dumpsters.

You gotta be kidding! What kind of a person would steal someone else's recycling?? Now, out here, we have 3 different trash cans provided by the city, one for trash, one for garden waste, and one for recycling, and the homeless go through the recycle cans and get cans and bottles, but I don't mind that, because the people they're taking them from have already trashed them, and the homeless people need that money. But if you're specifically carrying around your recycling, then you obviously have plans for that money. They might as well just steal people's wallets.
Dianna- When's your wedding? Are you going on a specific diet? A few years ago, I lost 15 pounds, then couldn't lose anymore for like 2 years. Joined Weight Watchers, and lost another 35 in about 8 months. But when I got pregnant, i gained 70, and still have about 60 of it. So that's my res-- to lose at least 50 of the 60 pounds. (But hopefully all 60.) This time, I'm going to try a diet based on Lindora. I was hoping to find a few other dieters on here do be diet buddies with, and post updates and such, because I've found that other people knowing about my failures is a great motivator.

Geegee...I don't get any money for my cans, anyway... I take them to the place to donate them, so I WANT people to steal them so I don't have to go to the trouble of unloading them. Works like a charm! I make sure they are always in see-thru bags, so people will take them!

I leave my doors unlocked here. Last year my car was "broken" into but the only things stolen were gas receipts and my gas cap key. The thieves rifled through tapes but I guess had different music tastes. Reckon they thought the car was too MESSY to bother with the rest.

I was thinking the same thing.....about maybe having diet buddies? I'm totally for it! I will be a dietere! My goal is 40-50 pounds, which will put me at my "ideal weight" for my height. When I was looking for my ticker, the place that I use also has a weight loss ticker. It can count down the amount of weight you want to lose, or if your brave, it will count down through your actual weight! I was going to do that ticker instead of the one that I'm doing, but this one is important to me. What about two tickers down there instead of my photobucket link??? Weezie, Jiffy, Bill?? Would that be ok???

Yay! I'll diet with you, Jenn! I'll even be brave enough to post my actual weight, though I'm not sure if I'm technologically advanced enough to make a ticker.
I used to weigh 185 (I'm 5'7"), then got down to 169 on my own, then got down to 134 with Weight Watchers (which I highly recommend to anyone who has the 10 bucks a week), but by the time we had the baby, I was at 204! YIKES!!! Now, I'm pretty sure I'm unfortunately somewhere in the 190s. I may never see 134 again, but I want back into my size 8 jeans! New Years day, I'll weigh in and post my weight, and we can post tips, or updates on how much we've lost, or just vent about how much we wanted to eat those cookies-cake-spaghetti-or whatever our particular stumbling block is. (mine is definitely carbs.)

Jim and I are getting married on May 14. We have been together for 3 and 1/2 years, so I guess it is time. I have been divorced for 24 years so this is the biggest step for me. I am terrified!
We are planning on having a western wedding complete with "hitching post" on our back deck. I am planning on wearing the size I was when we first met, (size 8-10) so I have to do some dieting to get into the dress I want. My problem will be carbs, too! I love my beans, rice, and taters!

Kewl! (as njoynit would say!) Are you gonna have horses?
If I ever get married again it will be an outside wedding. I've always thought that would be so nice. My sister got married under a big weeping willow tree, and it was so pretty.

Yay!!! Geegee, if you are brave enough to post your weight, so am I. I weigh the same as you then...usually its 197.5in the morning. I've been the same since I got pregnant. I NEED to loose weight to get pregnant again. So much that that depends on. Anyways, do you have AIM?? I can walk you through making the ticker. Its REALLY easy.....the site will walk you through it, actually. Go to the website by clicking on my ticker and just go from there....try it and see if you can do it. Then I will tell you how to have it as your signature...it gives you the coding.

Okay...here's a thought for you dieters. I got an e-mail thingy that said if you make a negative New Years Resolution you WONT keep it...so it advised that instead of saying "I am going to lose 30lbs" you say "in 2005 I will maintain 140 lbs" and then work on getting there and maintaining it. Just a thought! I personally have only kept one New Years resolution and that was not to ever make any more! I use to weigh 265 and tried EVERY diet on the face of the earth, lost 100lbs twice. Then when I lost my son in an auto accident I got down to 92lbs and have been trying to GAIN weight for the past 4 yrs!!!! From my experience I can tell you that the best way to loose is small meals several times a day...and NO diet stuff. Diet soft drinks have been proven to keep you from loosing wieght...haven't had one in years. My Doc says "no diet stuff" eat what you want in SMALL portions and excersize. (which I have personally never done)

Do you have your dress yet, Dianna? It sounds like it's going to be a great wedding! I really like outdoor weddings. I found out I was pregnant about a month or so after I started planning our wedding, and less than a week after I had ALREADY BOUGHT my dress. First, we planned to let the dress out, but the weight piled on, so the store let me exchange my beautiful little 8 for a 12, then we had to let THAT out, and finally I had to buy a BRAND NEW DRESS 6 days before the wedding.
Jenn, I don't guess I have AIM, because I don't know what that is. ?? That's the other reason I need to lose weight, because we've been thinking about trying to get our son a brother or sister, and I'm terrified of starting where I am and gaining another 70 pounds. Not that that would necessarily happen, but it COULD. Anyway, I'll check out that ticker link tonight.
Vanessa- I'm so terribly sorry that you lost you son in such a tragic way. No parent should ever have to go through that. But I think you're right about being positive. How about, "I WILL fit in to an 8 again!"
Cindy- That's so great! Good for your Dad and Mom, and may they have many more happy years!

I guess I need to make the resolution to keep my car cleaned out and drive by the recycling bin at least ONCE a week.
AND to not start smoking again, and to engage in a healthier lifestyle including diet and exercise. The list could go on and on, as usual, but I have about the same list every year. Oh, and to be happy; along with being a better person. And not to take any _ _ _ _. And to get organized... Try to visit family more.
Good luck to everyone on diets. Exercise is the key, even if you start with just 5 minutes a day. Something is better than nothing.
Actually I think I will narrow it down to one resolution. To be a better person. Leslie

Cindy, we don't have any horses lined up, but a neighbor down the street has some. We may just have to ask him about renting them to us. It would be fantastic to meet my cowboy at the hitching post on a horse!
Geegeeburr, we haven't ordered my dress yet. The dress that I want, they are out of in my size. They only have XS and 2X left. I know I will not be able to get down to an XS and I don't think that I can eat enough to get to the 2X size in 6 months. I will probably have to find something different. It's a shame, though, because the outfit I wanted, I really liked alot. It is hard for me to find clothes that I like. When I do, they are either too small or too large. Sometimes I dislike Eve for eating that apple! My skin is the only thing that fits right, even though it is starting to "droop" a little here and there.
A resolution that I would love to be able to make and keep would be to quit smoking. I always mess that one up, so I no longer try. My resolution usually lasts for five minutes after the new year starts. Willpower is definitely something that I don't have! Or should I be praying for "won'tpower"? You know..."I won't smoke that cigarette", or "I won't eat that candy bar!"

I went to a wedding where the groom was in overalls and the bride, decked out in white/veil etc., rode down the isle on a donkey. Personally at that particular wedding I couldn't tell which was the real a$$....the one she was on or the one in the overalls! It was kinda cute tho...there were bails of hay for seating instead of chairs and an outhouse was the cake topper.

Dianna, don't be scared honey...I LOVE being married....I wouldn't want to be dating or single for anything in the world. Dating is more frightening than marriage...
And to answer the burning question about why she rode down the isle on a donkey....Arkansas...there are all kinds of crazies here. I didn't personally know the people getting married. I just catered it and had to do the cake with the outhouse on it (why did they do that?) I personally like to stick to tradition. An outdoor traditional wedding is the most beautiful wedding there is...and I have been to thousands of weddings (about 4 a week-end for years)some of the more simple weddings were the most beautiful.

The top one is the one that you want. You have to put it in the signature as an image, not a link, so its not a simple copy and paste thing. What I did was go to a thread and click "reply" then I hit the "image" button on the bottom and pasted the link that I copied. You know how when your still writing your post, you can see the UBB coding? Well, Then I copied that whole thing and pasted it into my signature in the profile page. You have to make sure that there are no extra spaces on either end of the coding. You can do it...I know you can!!
