My name is Andria, I live in Orlando Florida and I have been interested in growing my own food for a long time. Due to space/time issues I haven't really had a successful garden. When we moved to Florida (this past Fall) I was really excited about having an opportunity to plant. Recently my daughter became very ill and we have been taking her to doctor after doctor. I finally took her to a family friend who practices holistic medicine. He gave her some medicine (that is actually working by the way) and told me that we were both very 'toxic'. I am now trying to rid my home and lifestyle of toxic things, particularly foods. So, although I've always wanted a garden my little one being sick has made it very very urgent. I have been calling this family friend non-stop since and he suggested I find a website with experienced gardeners (he buys organic.. as a doctor he can afford to). So.. TADA.. here I am! I have a ton of questions! I rent my apartment so we have to do containers, but there is plenty of room out back to put them out so I want to experiment alot! I'm off to search and see if some of my questions have already been answered elsewhere.. I'm sure everyone will be hearing from me alot!
Florida is my home state, I grew up in Central Florida.
I understand about wanting to live without the chemicals, we are constantly in pursuit of this as well. I clean with lemon juice, baking soda, vinegar. I buy Ecos laundry soap, I can't use the commercial products at all. I use natural makeup, I had some terrible reactions to cosmetics. I could write a novel here, but I won't, LOL.
Again, welcome!
