What do you all think about Mushroom Compost. I have been told it is GREAT to add to any garden or flower bed..so I thought I would ask all of you great experts here.

I can buy it by the tandem load...so if it is a good thing I will get one for sure in the Spring.

Thank you all in advance..I have learned so much here [thumb]

Definitely not my area of expertise (if any of this really is) but my impression is that mushroom compost is definitely a great thing...I just couldn't tell ya exactly why. I would definitely get it if you can cheap (or free is even better!)

Yesss! Mushroom compost is some of the best soils you can get! It is pre-digested by the mushrooms, so that all the organic components are readily available to plants. It is rich in everything a plant needs to grow, and it is biologically active, full of beneficial bacteria that will help fight disease and increase the vigour of plants. You can mix it into your soil, or grow nitrogen loving plants oike corn, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. directly in it, as long as it can drain well. I use bags of it and mix it with leaves and my sandy soil to make lasagna beds, and I get great results. It is perhaps the best soil amendment next to worm castings. I wish I could get a few truckloads of it!
