Has anyone been around enough to make homemmade laundry soap?And did it clean better?

I have a recipie for some.They say its cost effective....

1 cup boraax
1 Bar heavey laundry soap(fels naptha)
1 cup washing soda or super wash soda

Grate bar in saucepan .
Cover with 2 inches of water(stick finger in and fill to second line on index finger)
Soak overnight.
Fill 5 gallon bucket with warm water 6 inches from top.
Cook saucepan med heat stir with wisk till disolved& pour in warm water in bucket,then add washing soda& boraax.stir let cool then stir again and pour off in gallon jugs with space to shake and use 1 1/2 cups per load.


Any washers washed with this?????
