The storms that have been moving toward the northeast are arriving in Maine this morning and the prediction is for upwards of 12 inches.
Today is my big nephrology appointment. So far, nothing is falling in my town and my ride TO is willing to scoot me there and my ride FROM is willing to brave the weather and fetch me later.
So it looks like I'm going.
All the area schools are cancelled though, so Maxi will be with me. His dad will come to the doctor's office to pick him up for the weekend. That will be better than hanging out with the kidney team all day.
Although they do have a marvelous, huge aquarium that Barleychown would adore!
So I'm off to the shower and to dress. Maxi is making his own microwave breakfast and packing his bag.
If all goes well, I should be home late in the afternoon and I will post then.
If ya don't hear from me by 6 EST, call out the snow plows 'coz I might be a snow bunny in my pretty pink boots somewhere along Rt. 1....

It just ended here......7 1/2 inches on the ground, but it was really cold here, so it was the drier kind of snow that blows....should be fun when the wind starts to kick up later on!

Merme, it seems that Maxie's dad is a good fellow. Wonder if you'll know any results today or if you'll have to wait all weekend. I hate when that happens.

Merme - I'm sorry I missed you before you left, but I hope your rides were smooth with no problems, and that your day was as easy as it could be for what you were going for. I also hope the outcome is better than what you were expecting and that they can help you without too many invasive techniques.

I am home, but so tired I could just sit and cry. But I'm really thinking of making some coffee or making a nap.
Travel was VERY difficult by the time I got through at the doctor. A normally 20 minute trip up pleasant roads took us an entire hour to reach my town. Once here, we made a quick stop at the market for Ice Melt for my ramp as Maxi had used the last of it earlier.
I am in a very tough mood because the doctor's appointment went so badly...
First, understand that SIX HOUSEHOLDS were involved in arranging the transportation for me today. Yes, it truly did get that complicated! But everyone was willing to do their part because of the importance of the appointment. Otherwise, I would have just told everyone we'd postpone.
So we get all the way there... my elderly church friends having a nervous, upsetting time with the drive. Maxi's dad's girlfriend and her dad met us there to scoop up Maxi and take him to his dad's house for the weekend.
I get inside and MY DOCTOR WASN'T THERE!
Problem was, when I called for the appointment, the secretary pulled out the book for the wrong physisican and scheduled me to see another doctor by mistake! MY doctor is on his hospital rotation week!
I WAITED ALL THESE WEEKS TO SEE DR. S ON A DAY HE WASN'T EVEN GOING TO BE IN THE OFFICE?!
So this other doctor was as rude and nasty as she could be!
She basically called me a liar on four different points, scoffed at everything I said and was as hostile and as condesending as anyone I've ever dreaded to meet!
It was insanity!
So after listening to her criticize me for everything under the sun and a few things off-world as well, she asked me if I had noticed any swelling in my feet and legs?
THE WOMAN DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I'M AN AMPUTEE.
So I said "My FOOT does swell. The prosthesis doesn't" and she was startled, glancing down.
She did not know a thing about me, and made that rather obvious, then went on to argue with each detail I tried to explain. I gave up.
So then she insisted I had to go to the lab for specimens and a blood draw, which I had expected.
I went in and mentioned to the girls that I am a tough draw, but it doesn't upset me any, so go ahead and do what cha gotta do.
SIX STICKS later, they couldn't get any blood and ran out of staff qualified to try, so no blood taken today. They gave me written orders to give to my visiting nurse so she can do the draw on the next visit.
So now I have to go back on January 20th, which is the first chance I will have to see my own doc.
It's been suggested that I make a complaint with this woman's supervisor and I will on Monday. There was no reason in the world for her to treat me that way.
I'm worn out, and I know absolutely nothing more than I did before except that this woman is a jerk!

I'm so so very sorry you had to go through all that! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Doctors can be so difficult and condescending! They really need to get a reality check sometimes!!!
Please do have a nice cup of coffee, sit in your favorite spot and just take in a deep breath and sigh it out!
and... definitely file that complaint! No one should have to go through what you did today! That woman needs to be put in her place!
Hugs and love to you, dear Merme.

When I got in the SUV for the ride home, I said I always try hard to not allow other people's bad behavior to have too great an impact on me, and to just dispell it away from me so that I'M not changed by it.
He said "Yes, but that is sometimes very hard to do. Especially when you are sick!"
So I think you are right, Lynne... a good cup of hot stuff, a deep breath to just let it all go, and a nice visit with my palies here and maybe I'll snap back into shape soon!

No wonder you're upset...what an ordeal to have to go through...nobody deserves to be treated like that Merme...I don't care if they're having a bad day, or whatever her excuse is....
I'm glad though that at least you made it there and back safe and sound, and that Maxi made it safely to his dads house.

Oh Merme, I am so sorry that things went so badly today at your appointment. I hope you do follow-through with that complaint and that they do something with that horrible doctor.
I hope you can manage to have a peaceful and restful weekend after all this stuff this week. After reading about your whole week in one short burst, I went from concerned to panic to relief that you are well. Cannot imagine having to go through that whole thing for two days. Glad you are back with us and safe and sound!

Well, Merme, I would have been T'd off too, if I'd have gotten there and no doc.. *I'd of pulled him from the hospital rotation and told him to rotate on this * I empathize with you totally
Yes, I'd file the disgruntaled patient file too... let them know that at the very least you deserved decency (sp?).
Get that cuppa hot Red Rose Tea and settle into your favoritest seat and curl up here and with a good book and alternate..

Merme, What kind of person becomes a doctor that has not a shred of human emotion--- sounds like she should have been a mortician instead- wouldn't have to deal with real live people them..... I do hope they can get you in sooner- ask to be called if there is a cancellation and or insist they do it sooner- have your primary physician call and request it--- something should work - after all it was their mistake! Do have a cuppa tea and rest.... I am having a cuppa tea and a hot bath- kids were so generous with their bug I feel horrible now- Hubby just declared it a frozen pizza night- he has it too and never gets sick.... sure hope it only lasts the weekend- at least the other Nana is taking the boys for the game tomorrow and I can knock myself out tonight and sleep it out I hope- my usual cure of what ails me--- hmmmm wonder if the rum is still in the basement--- or if it is where? That would knock it out of me for sure--- may have Teresa go look for it- she feels better already.... prayers are working and the meds helped too I am sure--- she played with the boys today .. and even played video games with Timba for a while--- saying lots of Thank you prayers here... Well off to the tub and oblivion I hope.... have to much to get accomplished to be sick! Nana

My local friends here all pretty much laughed til they were shedding tears when they heard this "doctors" pronouncement that since I "have no serious health issues any longer..." I am simply an uncooperative patient!
So my palies on the phone were cracking up "the next time you are in the hospital, we are going to run right up there and tell you to unhook yourself from all the machinery and GET UP AND STOP FOOLING AROUND!" and "we ALL know you are just faking it!"
Some of them wanted to storm into my cardiologists office and shake him by the lapels saying "What's WRONG with you, man? Why do you keep putting cardiac stents in her heart when we all KNOW she is fine?!?!?!"
So they all vowed that based on this woman's opinion that the next time I need a ride to the doc, they will just tell me to run up the road myself!
They said it was GREAT to be so relieved that they no longer have to pray and be concerned for me 'n the kid!

no, Cindy - you don't want to get started on that! Stay focused on the good things that happened today, K?
I have to pat myself on the back - if you all don't mind!
I was just IMing with my sister, and she tried to pull me down into that negative thinking space I'm digging out of, and I held my ground. Not nastily... just didn't let her pull me in! Yea... progress!!!

It was actually Merme who saved the day on Thursday, she took us to lunch, we got the best seat in the house, and then took us shopping buying all sorts of goodies for my children's Christmas stockings. I could tell she was getting such a kick out of shopping for a little girl and got Jocelyn such pretty little treasures. Then when I went into her market to pick up the meat order I got to flirt with the hot young man behind the meat counter!
Thank you again , Merme , I can't tell you enough just how grateful I am for you filling my kid's stockings. I went to my oldest daughter's house this afternoon and she has bought a ton of Christmas presents to put under our tree for the little ones from Santa. She is such a beautiful, compassionate, giving young woman, and I raised her!!!! What was turning out to be the most pathetic, disastrous, depressing Christmas ever has truly turned into a wonderous, joyous, miraculous season because of dear friends like you Merme and my family and my church!
Yes, Gardenhelper friends , there is a Santa Claus!
I'm glad your little ones are going to have a nice Christmas.
The "hottie" at the Market is grandson of the owner, so he's just about always there... so anytime you need a little flirting, ya know where to come!
