Finally I have flower stems. Whew I was thinking I wasn't going to get flowers from either one but they have started the process. I can't wait to see them. I'm so excited.

You betcha. I can't wait to see them. It seems like it's been sooooooo long in the comming. I probably planted them upside down or something. Still learning lol. And then I didn't have really good soil so maybe that had something to do with it too. I just can't wait to see them.

Glads and cannas are so pretty. [clappy] I just got my glads planted Father's Day weekend, a bit late but since we stay warm into early Nov. we should be okay. I hope. [Roll Eyes]

I think so too. I mean they weren't the fastest things in my garden to bloom by a long shot but then they didn't have the best conditions in the world either. I'm learning and I've done lots of things wrong. The cannas has had to deal with watercress in the same contain and that stuff like to get a strangle hold on the cannas the moment I'm not looking lol.

I packed up some of my cannas when we moved but haven't found the best spot for them yet. They are just the standard red but my new neighbor has the most beautiful yellow ones. They have little orange spots on them and are just amazing looking. She said I can have some if I come over and help her thin her bed (she's a bit older [Wink] ). Of course I offered to help her anytime she needed it especially if she wants to share her knowledge and plants!

Lucky you!! You get knowledge, plants and to play in the dirt all at the same time. That really good going. I heard something about the yellow a few days ago. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for them. They sound interesting.

TK - the ones I am waiting to grow and bloom are supposed to be dwarf yellows. I say "supposed" because I got them at an off-price store, and one never really knows whether the packaging is right on those items. I have 2 in the ground, 2 in pots on my deck, and one in my pond in a pot. None of them are more than 8 inches tall at this point, but I'm hoping they spurt up soon.

TK - your crossed fingers were VERY powerful!!!
THANKS so much!

 -

When they said "dwarf" they weren't kidding - these are in full bloom and they are barely 2 feet high!

OK, gardengal they are crossed just for you now. I'll sure you'll see them in just alittle bit. My second canna has shot up a stem so I should see blooms on it in a day or two. Unfortunately the camera's batteries died and I haven't gotten around to new batteries yet. But I will. My glads also bloomed this week and they are a beautiful red color. I really like them.

Those yellow canna are really pretty. I like miniatures. Have you seen the tropicanna cannas? I've seen the foliage and it is really special. I was wondering what color the blooms are. Would you happen to know?
