I just found this site while doing a Google search for astilbes! (I just planted some today) It looks like a very interesting place. We bought a house and about 8 acres 2 years ago. About an acre of it is "yard" with not much in it--yet! The soil is good 'ol Carolina red clay! Hard as cement when it's dry and gooey enough to suck the shoes off your feet when it's wet! Anyway, when we aren't riding our motorcycle we like to try to get flowers, trees, shrubs, asparagus--basically, anything, to grow around here! We have a dog, a cat, lots of tropical fish, 2 grown daughters and two great (are there any other kind?) grandkids! I work for a health department and my hubby works for a human service agency. Hope to get to know some fellow dirt diggers who are willing to share gardening tips and a few laughs. [wayey]

Hi HarleyGal:) I just happened upon this site too a few days back & I have been here every day since:) I am also a biker gardener, usually on the back of the bike though. I am trying to learn to drive myself...but I do love them:) Never miss a local rally. I sure wish I had a Harley! Only have a Yamaha, hubby says I have to learn to drive before he sinks the big bucks into a different bike for me...but maybe one day if I keep pestering the old man lol:)
