[flower] I've waited all winter for this guy to give me this old bowling ball because I had these instructions on how to make it into a mosaic gazing ball, but now I can't find the instructions.I know you had to prepare the ball to make the grout stick and stuff.Does anyone have a link or instructions [critic] or done one yourself to help me out? I'm so excited about making this project [Cool] and I need to get it done before I get outside or it will never happen this year. [Wink] [Love] [Love]

well, i don't have instructions, but because i am an ameture bowler (or was before i quit) i would think that these things would be relavent:

1- type of ball. if it is one of the new (new being a relative term) "rubbery" ones or if it is a hard, shiney one.

2- you would have to make sure you clean it well to remove all the oil from the bowling lanes

3- you will have to prepare the surface by sanding or something to get the grout to stick

BUT I think it is a great idea, and will probably look into it for a "gazing" ball for the yard!

See what happen's when Phil tell's me to do some posting on here. We start with Lady Bug's & Squirrel's and go to hairball's and cheesehead's. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] Phil is trying to cure the hairball's for the cat. Vasaline on his paw. Well the goofy cat tried to shake it off and gave up and licked it off. Like they are supposed to. Hope it work's.. [kitty] [Big Grin] Laura [kitty]

laura, if you mix the vaseline with some malt powder, they will just lick it. that is what i used to do (and need to do now) with my cats. made a little bowl of it and left it where they could just lick it when they wanted it.

LOL did you ever find your directions to the mosaic bowling balls?

How about just using the glue and grout that you use in a bathroom.

Rue, yes I do know that its applied with grout, but it just seems to me there was something spread on the bowling ball to make it really hold the grout.I know I will find directions if I do a search for mosaic crafts.Truth is I'm still finding tiles and colored glass to make it and then when I've got the mix I want I will have to try harder to find directions, just thought that somebody here might have already done one, will keep everyone posted.
