I have had this for years, and don't know what it is. I believe it flowered when I first got it--beautiful yellow flowers (not certain of that however). Any help in identifying it would be appreciated. Photobucket

That is a Chinese evergreen (aglaonema). I see it is blooming in the picture.

Mary~ I looked at the picture again, I am not sure if it is a flower or a new leaf unfurling???? [nutz]

Thank you for replying to my post. I have had information (from another site heaven forbid) that this is probably some kind of Calathea. I can see that it fits in that category, but I don't believe its a Chinese Evergreen. I am a novice at this identification effort, and have looked at many plants in the Calathea (family?), and it just doesn't quite match anything I have looked at. I have a few other pics of it, and I will try to take some that give the true flavor of the thing, and as soon as I get a few minutes, I will put them on the site. Again thanks from someone who knows nothing:)

i had one like that once from a man who hanged himself(gave it to me before) [Big Grin] so i called it my hangman s plant but i believe he told me it was in the diffenbechia familly.

Hi, l think it comes from the Herring bone family of plants, could it be Maranta?.

Donna is correct. It is categorically a Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema). It is most definitely not a Calathea or Maranta.

Please identify that other site so we can encourage them to post accurate information.

BTW, it is time to prune it back.
