HI [wayey] ALL i found some bushs with thorns on them today thorns are abought 1 1/2 to 2 inches long.the plant has RED flowers abought the size of a silver dollar on them the trunk of the plant is all green.THESE are growing wild i saw them today when i road my eletric scooter down the country road i live on.anyone have any idea what it is?i will try and post a photo later it was getting dark when i found them.your friend in gardening.mike57 [wayey] [dunno]

Wow you are fast gardencrazy and what a good guess. But the trunk of mine was brown. Probably an older growth than what mike saw? Hope he gets a picture.

I thought about quince too, but I think the thorns are smaller.

Do pomegranates have thorns?

HI [wayey] GardenCrazy you where right on the money they are quince further in the woods i got found some bigger ones and the stalks where brown.i dug up abought 25 of them.I think they will make a good hedge row.dont think to many folks would walk through a hedge like that [Big Grin] thank for the imformation on them.your friend in gardening.mike57 [thumb]

They grow an edible fruit too.

Enjoy them Mike they'll make a beautiful hedge and the hummingbirds like them too.

Yep [Big Grin] had 2 restock on the bandaids the thorns realy hurt.i got them all planted put them on the property line next to a barbwire fence makes a nice hedge just hope they take root there ok.had a few extras so i just planted them in diffrent locations around my property it will add a little more color all over i did not have many red blooms around but think they will stand out in the areas i put them.your friend in gardening.mike57 [wayey] [flower] [flower] [flower]

What I found with the quince that I had is they move. Or they start out in one place and then grow more trunks(?) beside that, and then more beside that. And the original place becomes barren after along while. Mine were more of a salmony color than a red but they flowered so early that they were one of my favorites. Even though the thorns are aggressive little monsters that always found my fingers.

I hope they like their new home and do really well for you.
