Hello!!! I am ssssoooo happy i found this web site that i log in almost everynight!! i don't have a digital camera just yet so I'll try to describe this plant my deceased Granny left my husband and I. It is thin and flat at the tip, but has a triangle shape at the base of the plant. the thorns are only along the edges of the plant. The poor plant has been depressed ever since granny died and my mother-in-law has kept is at her house. My husband and i have had it now for 3 months and it seems to be doing better and trying its best to stand back up. My husband says that this particular cactus blooms only at night, then dies before day break. He says he remembers Granny letting him stay up till it bloomed when he was a child. so please if anyone knows what it is help me care for Grannys baby. Thank you.

thank you all for the suggestions. it is indeed a night blooming cactus. there are two types of these cacti mine is called a epicactus. thanks
G-mom and tkhooper for your help! because of your help i have found the way to care for my lovely plants. i also have a christmas cactus. and today i repotted both. [grin] thank you again!!
