I have it outside, I really don't think it's bamboo, A lady gave it to me and it is some kind of tree that blooms.... any other ideas??

it's not a bamboo, although the leaf structure is similar, the main stalk and the angles are not. i am trying to remember just what it is (i've seen it before) but my mind is blank right now.
by the way, i edited your post so the picture would show up here... hope you don't mind.

Yes, Growing zones help alot!! Tells us to think about a hardy sub~zero plant, or a tropical!!!
AND, I was wondering if you had a bigger picture of your plant...more of the stalk, height, sprawl of the leaves and stems/branches... Would be AWESOME if you could..
