hello, i was given this plant a few months ago and haven't been able to identify it. originally it had fronds from top to bottom, but they were so raggedy i gave the poor thing a haircut(buzz cut more like it). it doesn't seem to be doing well, the frond tips are curling(lack of humidity?), and i can't tell if it needs more light. any ideas? http://tinypic.com/u80vo

i don't think it is a palm, and i do think it would benefit from more humidity. try putting a try of water with rocks under it. let the pot sit on the rocks, not in the water and the evaporation will raise the humidity around the plant.

it's not a corn plant, but the fronds are somewhat similar. the stalk is very thin, maybe 1/2 in diameter, with the fronds coming straight outta the stalk. thanks for all the suggestions, though. maybe we should ask that guy from jeopardy to give it a go.

I thought it looked like a corn plant too, and they get huge (tall) I've seen one 10 foot tall before. Got mine growing in water, seems to like it okay, been in there over a year now.
