I have the wildest growing plant, most of my friends call it a "Man Eater" as it is such a vigorus grower. You can almost stand and watch it grow. One cane has grown nearly 6 feet in two weeks. It is in a pot on a coffee table infront of a south facing picture window, however shaded in the summer by a porch. (I live in North central BC Canada) This plant was started from a tiny feaf fragment and I have it staked up. and it is over 7 feet wide and about that tall. In My livingroom? Right ! Blooms only at night 8-10 inches in diameter ivory in color with a touch of rust on the very back pettals. The fragrence if so strong that it hurts your nose. (Kind of a acidy spice, but not offencive. but invigorating.) Flat wavy leaves with air roots coming out along all canes and the spine of the leaves. From the time the bud starts to open until it dies is about 5 hours. Lots of buds come out on it but all but two one last year and one in this past mid September, have managed to open. They just dry up.
OK now Questions. Is this really what I have??? Where does this plant come from (I was told from Japan) ?But I got it from a Chinese Resturant Does it have a common name? (I was told "Dutchman's Pipe) What do I feed it? Numbers Please ie 20-20-20 What kind of soil? Watering program? Thanks Una
