I've had this one up before - here is a really good shot of it - I'm still trying to figure this out.

That is a "Platycodon" AKA "Balloonflower". I have them in my yard. Just love the way they look like hot air balloons before they open up!

yep, gardenmom's right. Plant it in the ground , it's a perenial /i'm in zone 4 and it comes back every year. it's pretty low growing, mine gets about 6-8" high . It comes back up slowly in the late spring so don't forget it's there.

OK - I've got two of 'em.

I'm Toronto - zone 6a - somethin' like that. About the same as New York, I guess.

Tell ya' what - I'm chicken about leaving it outdoors. So I'll keep one in and one out.

And thanks so much for the identification.

They get seed pods...so you could collect them too!

Yep - just brought two pods in and put them in a small bowl on the fridge. I hope to have more.

I've made my decision - there is one on the south island on this lot (I'd have to put the pic up to explain that, I guess).

Anyway, it didn't die down there, and it did get purple flowers, the same as the one on the table garden did. So, I'm having Ms. Table Garden join her as soon as she's not blooming.

I hate the thought of transplanting something when it's in the midst of a bloom.

Thanks for your help on this, everyone.

I'll definitely buy them again, Weezie. I have really enjoyed seeing this plant blooming on and off over the course of the summer.

Yes, they will be nice in other colours.
