These grow by the roadside here. A few years ago I dug up one stem, which was rooted to China, and now it sends up underground runners everywhere in my garden.

They look like phlox to me. They do grow in the wild. They should smell. I haven't seen them in that color before though. Mine are a deeper purply pink. LOL I really like them.

I found out from another site that they are Soapwort - "bouncing bet" - they are supposed to have a nice fragrance, but I've never noticed. I'll have to brave the bees and see if they do smell nice!

If they are soapwort (can't tell for sure from the photo), pick a handful and throw them into your bathwater - your skin will be soft and smooth! Also, you can dry them for a special bath treat during the winter.
