This plant is really easy to care for and it roots easily so soon enough you can have a full, lush, plant. It will tolerate low light, but rather enjoys brighter light. Let the surface soil dry out some between waterings during the winter. This plant is undemanding, nice and easy to grow. Have fun!

Hi, Sandy. The pic link didn't come through for me, but if it looks like these, then that's what you've got. There's some culture info on these pages, too, though what Loveday said is perfect. I've got the micans (middle link), have made several pots out of the unrooted cuttings I got several years ago. I've got a big Moonlight (last link - I'm not endorsing the site, didn't get mine there, they've just got the best pic I could find, and mine's a lot bigger than that now), which is also a very nice plant, and part of the scandens grows up its support. They look nice together. Good luck with yours.

Hi, I have a philodendron scandens which is looking a bit worse for wear. Although it has a post, it is just spindly and viney and I know I need to prune it for it to fill out. However, I don't know how to prune! Do I pinch it and most importantly, WHERE? There's the thicker main 'vine' with stalks coming off with leaves on. Do I pinch these off at the junction with the main vine - in which case I'll have no leaves left? Or is that the point of pruning to promote growth?

What kind of light do you have it growing in? They don't need a lot, but some will help keep the spaces between leaves shorter. I've got mine in an east wondow. Philos are vines and don't get bushy. They just don't. You can loop them around several times as the vines get longer, or grow several vines in the same pot. Older plants often have several vines growing up from the root area, but it will always be a vine. If you want to take cuttings, here's how. The places where the leaves join the stem are called nodes. Cut a piece between 2 nodes, giving a cutting with 1 or 2 nodes. Don't remove the leaves from the nodes. Put the cuttings in water, roots will grow from the node. On the parent plant, a new stem will grow from the last node, sometimes from a node farther down. Good luck with your vine that will always be a vine!
