it's prolly mid winter here in AL and my aloe vera plant is turning black on the ends of the leaves? where everyone has used it for a med it is planted in the ground outback, i guess my question is, is there any hope for it or am i gonna have to buy another one come summertime?????

Aloe DO NOT like cold.....I would suggest moving it to a pot and bring indoors. Give as much direct sunlight as possible and very litle water. I don't know how cold it has been there, but cold and wet equals disaster to an aloe...trust me- I found this out quite by accident as I almost killed mine last year!
Margaret e pell or Comfrey( I know there is someone else I am forgetting, but.....) know more than I do, but from my understanding: Fast draining soil + lots of sun + small amounts of water = a happy aloe!
