Hi Container Gardeners!!
I found the most adorable Teapot Planter. It's a mottled blue-green ceramic, with an attached saucer with a hole for drainage. It's 9" high and 16" from handle to spout, but the body of the pot is perhaps 10" across. I'd like to keep it on the deck out back until fall, then bring it in to place in the kitchen window until spring when it can be put it out again. I'm in Philadelphia, in Zone 6b. Please provide suggestions as to what flowering plant to put in it.

I've always wanted a blue gardenia. Would that work? Is it hearty? Would it bloom all summer?

A pastel or creamy white flower would be nice. Any suggestion will be happily considered.

howdy, neighbor! are you right in philly? i'm outside in montco.

you could do coleus. there are different varieties - get one that's appropriate for the sun conditions...both outside and for later when you bring it inside for the winter.

Yes, I'm in NE Philly not far from Montco. [Smile]

I have a big pot of coleus out there now. It's a mottled green, pink and white. Very pretty! Thank you so much for the suggestion. I'll be sure to bring that pot in come fall. I've had many varieties of coleus but wanted something new.

My son's girlfriend suggested something cascading.

I might just get another teapot planter for her if I decide what to put in it. Perhaps I could put a border of vinca to cascase down the sides for her with some pretty flowers in the center.

I've love to try a magnolia in mine. They have beautiful shiny leaves. But I'm concerned that it might not thrive over the winter. What do you think?

I dunno about gardenia but it would be great looking in a pot like that.

What about geranium? Good indoor and out and have a long bloom season.

I've got a Lantana and a green vine I can't remember what in there too.Lantans is a bit leggy though. I think a violet would be pretty and could be used inside for winter.
