I have noticed over the past two weeks, two mockbirds (at least I think it's two birds) building a nest in my big cedar tree next to my porch!!! I have been outside the past week working in my flowerbeds and I have really enjoyed hearing them!!

They are too funny, yesterday I was in the flower bed right behind the tree and one flew down very close to me and just looked at me "like, Hey what are you doing?"!!

Ahh, he was looking for a snack maybe? Try putting out some apple slices, grapes, orange slices, or a bowl of grape jelly near where you see them, on a flat surface like an old table top or wooden platform and see what happens. Mockingbirds are omnivorous. They eat anything and everything but Especially love fruit and suet.

Good for you! The Hummingbirds are here and are moving north at the rate of about 10 miles a day. Try putting the table on your front porch where they can see it and put a bunch of apple slices on it. That should bring the Mockers a'runnin'.

Oh, I love the Mockingbirds and I have two that stay around here all year. I live next to a church and they can hear the organ, so they have developed quite a repertoire that keeps me really entertained throughout the spring, summer and fall. It's wonderful!

I love to feed as many kinds of birds as I can but have never been able to feed the mockingbirds. Every time I put out fruit for all the fruit-loving birds, the fireants find it Has anyone figured out a way to outsmart the pesky little devils? I just hate fireants.

When I used to go to my grandparents house in southern Louisiana each summer, I quickly learned that the tall towers and mounds of sand in their yard was NOT meant to play in. One time is ALL it takes. I still get hives thinking about it!
