Author Garden: A Mockingbird family has moved in!!! gardenfairy Dream Gardener Member # 10308 posted                       I have noticed over the past two weeks, two mockbirds (at least I think it's two birds) building a nest in my big cedar tree next to my porch!!! Try putting out some apple slices, grapes, orange slices, or a bowl of grape jelly near where you see them, on a flat surface like an old table top or wooden platform and see what happens. Mockingbirds are omnivorous. They eat anything and everything but Especially love fruit and suet. * * * * A bird in the hand......can sometimes be a mess. The Hummingbirds are here and are moving north at the rate of about 10 miles a day. Try putting the table on your front porch where they can see it and put a bunch of apple slices on it. I live next to a church and they can hear the organ, so they have developed quite a repertoire that keeps me really entertained throughout the spring, summer and fall.
