the best part is that is where we are sure they have their nest. and that area did not burn and did not get trampled by firemen [thumb]

I would FREAK OUT to look up in a tree and see those birds.

well, part of the "closeness" of the shot was a very good camera that bill got us for Christmas. but we see birds like that a lot around here. i love birds!

You're right, Deborah. Cardinals do not occur west of the Rockies for some reason. I am in Tennessee and have FIVE Pairs of Cardinals that live in my yard all year. In the East they are one of the MOST numerous of ALL bird Species. Only Starlings are MORE numerous.
