I agree with the hollyhock, but the very bottom looks like some galardia I used to have. Maybe they've (and just who are they, who do all things?) hybridized all red ones?

Wow, didn't expect such a quick response, but thank you. Margaret if these are hybridized, does that mean that I won't get flowers or just that the flowers will not be true to it's parent?

I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!

They say that Gaillardia doesn't come true from seed, but I haven't been able to tell a difference at all in the ones I've seen grown from seed! I guess it's a toss up, but I really think they'll come true, or very close to true. I'm sure there are people would disagree with me though. Again, I'm only speaking from my own experience.

Thanks again! I really appreciate it. The nice thing about it all is am checking to see if the seeds are viable and I have them growing inside. So far a lot of seedlings. I hope to have a spectacular garden next summer, even if they r not true to the parent, they are beautiful flowers.

Well, if it grows and looks good, who cares?

Remember the old saying - if it feels good, do it?

I've seen that two-toned one many times - I just called them big daisies.

About what you said about hoping to have a spectacular garden next summer . . . I was at Etienne Brule Park last weekend and an Italian girl was there (she was 30 something, I guess). She was also deadheading. Her family was trying to get her to come away and go home but she said 'no, I've got to get seeds'.

I said her 'oh, I do that too'. She said 'listen, I do my whole garden this way - right now? I see. In spring - I have.'

I'm never buying another plant, I said to Jeff.

I've heard that before, Jeff said to me.

Ha ha!
