I really have no idea what kind of plant this is? I was given some cuttings because I liked it and the person that gave it to me did not know the name either. Now the leaves are getting yellow spots on them and eventually drying out and in those areas and killing the whole leaf.

I have to say, it looks like some kind of "really cool" Coleus, but I am not 100% sure... Hopefully someone else can come thru with a guess for you....

I thought Coleus as well as soon as the pictures came up.Sorry, I don't why the leaves are doing what they are doing though.

it does kind of look like coleus...i thought they were more of a bushy type plant rather than viney tho...
there are a lot of varieties tho, so there may be some that are vining.
are you getting water on the leaves? water droplets on leaves that are getting full sunlight can cause burns to the leaves (the sunlight is magnified through the water droplet).
it's also possible that this isn't coleus and that it's just getting too much light. where does your friend have their plant? you might try duplicating the light conditions and see if things get better.
also, if the roots are well formed enough at this point, you can plant it in soil - there are some plants that don't do too well if kept in plain water for too long.

My best guess would be Perilla 'Magilla' ("Beefsteak plant") which, I believe, is closely related to coleus. Under low light conditions, they can lose much of their foliar color.
Take a look at this link to see a side-by-side comparison of one which was grown in sun, and one grown in shade. Note that the underside of the leaves remain rather purple-ish, which I think I saw in your photos, as well.

I think you are right zuzu that looks like my plant. Its the same color, however the leaves seems smoother but I am hopping that is just due to your picture. My friend did have it in a lot of light unfortunately my apartment does not get a lot of light. I have it in the window that receives the most light. I hope it survives. Sorry I took so long to respond my daughter had a stomach virus so I was real busy. Maybe a grow light will help.
