This mystery tree started growing on my property a few years back and so I just decided to let it grow for a while since it looked like it might make a good screening tree. It reminds me a little of a crabapple tree, but I know that's not what it is. It's a fast grower too! I have to wonder if this mystery tree came by way of deer??? It's now about 12"-15" tall and growing! My brother who does landscaping took a look at it and had no clue to what is was.

I'm guessing it's a Black Gum--Nyssa sylvatica. Black gum has a tendency to have 90 degree branch angles with a lot of branches perpendicular to the trunk.
