This mystery tree started growing on my property a few years back and so I just decided to let it grow for a while since it looked like it might make a good screening tree.
It reminds me a little of a crabapple tree, but I know that's not what it is. It's a fast grower too! I have to wonder if this mystery tree came by way of deer???
It's now about 12"-15" tall and growing!
My brother who does landscaping took a look at it and had no clue to what is was.

Sorry, I'm not sure how to resize the photos.

Any ideas of what this is?

I'm guessing it's a Black Gum--Nyssa sylvatica. Black gum has a tendency to have 90 degree branch angles with a lot of branches perpendicular to the trunk.

check into wild plums. Nyssa sylvatica is untoothed. i saw teeth on the close-ups.
