you can always tell poke weed from the red coloration at the base of the plant... if there's no red, it's not poke....

Lynne, some members may think I'm crazy but I love Pokeweed. I let one plant grow each year for the birds. It's an interesting, beautiful plant and the birds love the berries it produces. The few self-seeded plants that come up in the spring are very easily pulled up.

I do, too...for myself! I have a lot of it growing here, and when it first starts coming up in the spring and the new leaves are nice and tender I cook them. They are yummy!
